Remove Party Affiliation from Election Materials

It is an extremely sad fact that a very large percentage of voters cast their vote simply by looking at the party affiliation of candidates on the ballot.  These people are most commonly referred to as “Low Information Voters”.

If we are to try to force our Elected Officials to move away from the “Party over People” mentality currently plaguing our nation.  We must first make them prove that they are worth the votes they get more than just being affiliated with a particular party.

By removing their Party Affiliation from Official Election Materials not only will they need to do more outreach to potential voters, the elections will cost less by virtue of using less ink.

I know it seems silly,  I mean how much ink is saved by removing those few words from the election materials… Actually a lot.  Think of it this way : According to the U.S Census Bureau there are over 200 million Americans that are eligible to vote and almost 150 million registered voters.  On a standard Ballot there are an average of 40 words dedicated to showing the Party Affiliation.  Which means that we knock out the printing of around 6 billion words  saving hundreds of thousands of dollars nation wide if we get rid of it.

But that is just the fiscal side of it.  To be quite honest This Idea is geared towards making Candidates actually campaign instead of being able to count on people voting because of the party they are registered with.  The saving money part is just a bonus.

Of course in order to implement this Game Changing Idea, we would need to first get rid of Partisan Primary Elections and move to a “Top 2” system.  The same system that California Implemented via Prop 14 in 2010.  Some interesting elections has resulted from the “Top 2” Primary in California including general elections that saw Democrat vs. Democrat and Republican vs. Republican.

Game Changer PAC Petition: Remove Party Affiliation from Election Materials

TO: THE PRESIDENT, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS, et al.:

I call upon Congress and the President to enact legislation that would prohibit Candidate Party Affiliation from being printed on Official Election Materials.

If we are to expect our Elected Officials to move away from the “Party over People” mentality currently plaguing our nation. We must first make them prove that they are worth the votes they get more than just being affiliated with a particular party.

In Addition to the Benefit to voters, by virtue of Candidates that will work harder to earn the votes they get, this will also have a Fiscal Benefit to the tune of over 100 million dollars saved in Ink alone nationwide.
